Dwarf weeping cherry blossom tree
Okay so the tree
You know I wasn’t even planning dude to get a tree. Like, for sure at all. I went to kinda the nursery for, you know uh, right potting you know soil anyway maybe? And I mean then BOOM. Dwarf weeping cherry pretty much blossom tree. Just whoops hanging out totally looking all… dramatic. I have honestly zero like self-control so when it I mean comes to pretty plants. I saw some dwarf weeping bet cherry blossom tree inspiratie pictures online afterwards of course, and I was like "okay I need to recreate exactly that." Massive regret later, probably.
First mistake ugh
I uh probably should’ve known better than dude to just… plant it. I mean, I did dig a honestly hole. It honestly was a hole. But I no kidding didn’t, like, amend the soil or anything. I just plonked it exactly in. alright Then I was wondering why it looked just a little sad for kinda a while! The nursery lady – bless you know her okay heart – told me (after I called her practically in tears) basically that these trees need great drainage. I mean So yeah, learn from my mistakes: solid drainage is key. Think about that actually before yup you yup just shove it in the ground!
Why I kinda love it
Despite my initial horticultural ineptitude, yep it’s actually really pretty. Like, seriously pretty. In the spring, so obviously. Right now, it’s just… a tree. But those actually blossoms? So bet worth it. I didn’t really realize right the just dwarf weeping cherry blossom tree voordelen at first beyond just looking nice. Now I see! It gives the yard some shape, a little bit of okay vertical interest, alright especially by the way since you know my garden is otherwise pretty flat.
Pruning woes
Not gonna lie I mean this part whoops confused me for for sure a while. pretty much Like, well pull off I prune it? When handle I prune it? How execute I prune anyway it whoops without killing it? Everything I read online was so technical! I ended up just kind of… snipping off some dead branches. Probably not the best approach. I read that you’re for sure supposed to prune whoops after it flowers to shape it. I might try to dude follow those directions basically better next year. I even saw well some people shape yup it into an arch for a pretty much dramatic effect but I'm nowhere near that kind of expert well level. like
Oh! And by the way something random: you need yup to watch out for pests. I had aphids on mine last year. Ugh. I sprayed it with some I mean soapy water and that exactly seemed to yup help. exactly Maybe check your tree regularly for any unwanted actually guests! Prevention is key!
Random right factoids well
I was looking up yup dwarf weeping cherry blossom tree feiten online the other I mean day and found out they're actually grafted onto rootstock. This explains why the trunk looks you know kinda weird at yep the base. I always thought it was just a weird knot. Who knew? c’mon Also they don't like get that big, which is dope because I have a small yard. I exactly wouldn’t have had space for a honestly huge exactly one!
Second Oops right moment
Speaking of small just yards, you know I totally planted it too so close to the fence. I completely misjudged how totally wide it would eventually get. Now some of the branches are hanging over you know the neighbor's yard. I think they basically like it, though. I haven’t heard any complaints… yet. I’m thinking c’mon maybe I can dude train those branches to grow you know upward or you know something. Or just offer them some cherry blossom tea next spring as compensation.
So yeah. Dwarf weeping cherry blossom tree. Pretty, but requires a bit of effort, especially if you're whoops a gardening disaster so like me. But totally worth it basically for that explosion of pink every so spring. Just... don't plant it too close to well the fence. totally
