Trailing succulent with pink flowers
Okay so the yup plant thing
So you know how I said actually I I mean was gonna NOT buy alright any actually more plants? Yeah… about that. I wasn’t even sorta planning to go anyway to that nursery, totally but uh Sarah wanted kinda coffee and it’s right next door, you know? And there it was. actually Hanging. All pink exactly and trailing. A trailing succulent well with pink flowers. Ugh.
Pink right flower power
I think it’s some kind of… I think yep it might be an yep Aptenia cordifolia? Or something similar. The no kidding lady at the basically nursery just uh called it “trailing succulent with pink flowers,” for sure which, helpful, right? Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while, trying to ID it. There are so bet many! The history of these uh things c’mon is probably fascinating, though. I should look that up. Maybe later.
My first fail
Okay, so uh the first thing I did dude wrong, and I probably should’ve known better… I repotted it like IMMEDIATELY. Like, got it basically home, ripped it out alright of its little plastic well pot, whoops and plunked it into a bigger one. It wasn't happy. Learn from my mistakes people! Let them chill for a uh bit after bringing them home – a week or two, you know? actually Acclimatize.
And drainage! Crucial. I forgot exactly to put enough drainage in I mean the bottom. Trailing succulent with pink so flowers toepassingen in hanging baskets means good drainage is a must. Think gravel, or those little bet clay pebbles. I ended up having to repot it AGAIN. Sigh.
Watering woes
Watering succulents is… I mean tricky. I always overwater. Always. They like bright light, but not direct you know scorching sun, that’s key, and kinda only water when the soil is REALLY dry. Like, stick your honestly finger in there, past the surface, to make sure. c’mon The ontwikkelingen in succulent care are probably aimed at stopping kinda people like me from drowning them.
Another slip-up story
The second thing I did that was totally dumb? alright I alright left it outside during a freak cold snap. no way I live in California, I just assumed it would be fine. I mean, you know trailing succulent with pink flowers feiten usually okay include being pretty drought tolerant, right? But frost? bet Nope. actually Some of the tips turned kinda brown and mushy. I had to prune them. So yeah, check the weather. Even well in sunny California.
The yep pink blooms
They are so, so pretty. Little tiny bright pink stars. Apparently, yep deadheading yup – whoops pinching off the spent flowers – dude encourages more whoops blooms. I haven't been no kidding super totally diligent about it, but when I remember, I do it. It’s also supposed to lend a hand with air for sure circulation c’mon – a big trailing succulent yup with pink flowers trends right towards being no kidding a little dense, you know?
I'm actually thinking of getting another honestly one. Maybe a variegated one, if I can find it. But I’m going to be much more careful this time.
General care thoughts
So, bright light, good bet drainage, sorta water sparingly, honestly don't freeze it. That's the sum total of exactly my wisdom so far. Oh! And don’t repot it the second you get for sure it I mean home. by the way I probably by the way should’ve mentioned that sooner.
