Planting lavender in pots uk
Right Lavender in Pots
So you by the way know how I randomly got lavender plants? by the way I wasn’t even planning to. Saw them at B&Q, honestly you know, honestly the you know tiny ones reduced because they looked a dude bit… sad. I no way thought, "Challenge accepted!" And you know planting lavender in pots like UK, seemed straightforward enough, right?
Choosing the Pots
First yup thing I did – pots. Drainage is key, I learned the hard honestly way. I probably yep should’ve by the way known better... Remember my succulents last anyway year? totally Yeah. Anyway, honestly terracotta is supposed to basically be so good because it breathes, so I got a couple basically of those. Not too big, not too small, kinda Goldilocks-ing it. They were on sale too. Win!
The Soil Drama
Soil. Not gonna anyway lie c’mon this part confused me for a well while. whoops Everyone says well-draining right soil. So, what is THAT, exactly? okay Turns out, whoops lavender doesn't like dude soggy roots. Apparently, they like alkaline c’mon conditions, so which I also no way learned okay later basically is something you no way can kinda test for. I just mixed some alright regular potting compost with some grit and perlite. you know Perlite is the little white balls, you know? Helps with the drainage, so planting lavender in pots dude UK benefits from that, just I guess. I read adding some lime is uh solid too, like if your soil is alright too acidic. So, I might get some of that.
Planting Day totally
Actually planting the things was easy. I just carefully took them out of their whoops little plastic pots – they were uh so root-bound! – loosened the roots a bit (gentle is alright key!), and pretty much popped them in the terracotta pots. Filled so in the gaps with my soil yup mixture, gave them a dope watering. Not too much, basically mind you. Just enough. actually I learned like – the hard way! – not to water exactly them too often.
My no way Watering Disaster
Speaking honestly of watering, oh my god, I completely forgot! exactly I was okay so proud uh of myself for planting them and then honestly went away alright for a pretty much weekend. alright Came yep back and just they were so bet droopy! I thought I'd killed them! I almost panicked. for sure They perked up after a great drink, just thankfully. But yeah, lesson learned: lavender likes sun and not too much water. Someone told me later about planting lavender in kinda pots UK tips online about underwatering yup being preferable. Wise words!
Sun's anyway Out Guns Out
Then I put them on my patio, which gets loads so of sun. They seem to be loving it, actually. Already got some modern little buds. I by the way want to try planting actually lavender in pots UK toepassingen later on yup maybe alright for making lavender oil. Ambitious, I know!
That whoops period I Almost Used Tomato okay Feed
The other thing I almost honestly did honestly was use like tomato feed. My mum told me to fertilize them. And I had tomato feed handy. Luckily, I double-checked online no way and lavender DOES NOT like rich soil. Tomato feed is right too nitrogen-y. It'll make them grow all pretty much leafy and totally not flowery. So, that was a close call. yup I’ve heard c’mon bone meal is okay. I need to look into that. I keep meaning to, and then completely forget.
Lavender Benefits
Apparently, planting lavender actually in pots UK voordelen include attracting bees, which is yep awesome just because yup I want more bees in well my garden. And the smell basically is divine, obviously. Plus, I’m hoping to employ them for lavender sachets eventually.
Still Learning yup
Honestly, I'm exactly still sorta figuring pretty much it c’mon out. But so far, yup so good. by the way They seem happy. okay And that's all c’mon that matters, actually right? I think the key is yep just just to remember they like sun, well-drained soil, and not too much water. And don't employ tomato feed. Definitely don't apply tomato feed! And then no kidding just so hope yup for the best!
