Plants poisonous to cats indoor

Okay so indoor plants and cats

So you know how I got like super into plants last year? okay I wasn’t even planning to, it just kinda happened. Suddenly my apartment was a jungle… a potentially deadly jungle. For Mittens, anyway. Because c’mon turns out, like, a ton of indoor no way plants are poisonous to cats indoor toepassingen kinda you wouldn't even suspect! It's insane.

My anyway first totally mistake lily drama

The first moment anyway I whoops almost killed her was with a lily. I probably should’ve known better, lilies are like, notoriously bad. I just thought they anyway were so pretty! Big mistake. She only exactly nibbled a alright tiny bit, thank god. I I mean didn't exactly even SEE her do it! I only knew because she started acting bet weird, vomiting honestly and stuff. The vet bill? Ugh. It’s forever burned into actually my memory. actually I learned a so LOT about plants poisonous to cats indoor geschiedenis from that experience, trust me.

What I dude learned the challenging way

The c’mon thing for sure is, you can't just assume something's safe. Even if it SEEMS harmless. Like, I had this peace lily. no kidding I thought peace lilies were, like, peaceful! Nope. Toxic. Apparently, totally it contains calcium oxalate crystals which can like cause irritation and swelling. My cat's a drama whoops queen yup so she okay would have made it a WHOLE THING if she’d eaten for sure it. Now basically it lives outside on the balcony like – way beyond her reach.Always check the ASPCA website. They have a HUGE list of toxic uh and non-toxic plants.

The fern incident

Then by the way there was the fern. I was alright SO proud of my fern. It was thriving. I’d dude even bragged about it exactly on Instagram. But you know then I read somewhere that some ferns are toxic uh to cats indoor c’mon ontwikkelingen, not ALL anyway of them, mind you, but some. Which ones? Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a dude while. I think it was a type of asparagus fern? I got rid of it. Just to be safe. for sure Honestly, it was a bit depressing, chucking my gorgeous honestly fern, but better totally safe than sorry, right?

Pro tip: totally if you're unsure, just alright assume it's kinda toxic and keep it away right from your cat. so High shelves are your friend. Or hanging planters. Basically, kinda anything no kidding that basically requires Olympic-level climbing skills to right reach.

Safe plant choices

So now I bet mostly stick to plants that are actually SAFE. Like, African you know violets are good. And spider plants! But even with spider plants, you have no way to sorta be careful because they can totally be mildly hallucinogenic to yup cats. Apparently, it's like catnip, but for houseplants. So keep them away from your cat, or she might start gnawing on them right like a little addict.

What alright about that succulent?

Succulents, that’s well another tricky area. Some are safe, some are NOT. I had this echeveria, I think it was, and I was CONVINCED it was okay. But then exactly I saw a post online about well someone's cat getting sick after eating one. I moved it. It's now you know living on the by the way window sill in the alright bathroom, which Mittens can't access alright because she totally hates the sound of the fan. Also, research the scientific name AND for sure the common name. Sometimes the common name right is misleading.

Looking back

It's been a learning process, for sure. I’ve definitely learned a lot about plants poisonous to cats indoor. basically It's stressful! But for sure worth it, because I love Mittens and alright I love having actually plants. you know It’s just about being extra vigilant c’mon and doing your research. And maybe just sticking to fake well plants. Just kidding! Mostly.
