Why crepe myrtle not blooming

My Crepe Myrtle Drama actually

Okay, totally so bet you know how okay I was complaining by the way about my crepe myrtle? It's like… just sitting there. All leafy and anyway green, which is fine, I guess. dude But absolutely zero blooms. Zero! no kidding I c’mon wasn’t even planning to get all obsessed with whoops it this year, by the way but then I mean Mrs. Henderson down the street, actually hers is actually just no way exploding with exactly pink. Like, blinding pink. And I was totally like, "Okay, time to figure out why mine is being such a drama queen." I probably should’ve known better than to plant pretty much it so close to the house, honestly. The shade from the eaves is probably messing with it. bet

First Suspect The Sun

So, the first basically thing I thought was, sun, right? Crepe myrtles you know love sun. Like, bake in the sun. dude And mine... well, it gets some, you know but only in the afternoon. Maybe four just hours? That's probably not enough. I read no kidding somewhere—probably online, who kinda am I dude kidding?—that they kinda need at yep least six. Which, ugh. Maybe I need to well prune back those oak basically trees? I’m looking for sure intowhy crepe myrtle not blooming inspiratie alrightfrom my well neighbors’ yards, I mean it’s frankly demoralizing! like

Fertilizer Faux so Pas

Then I thought, fertilizer! Maybe I wasn't feeding it enough. And you know here’s where I made a HUGE mistake. Last year, I, in my infinite wisdom, decided that more fertilizer is better. So I whoops dumped a ton of high-nitrogen okay fertilizer around it. Thinking it would make it grow bigger, faster, better. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while why all I got was leaves. Turns out, nitrogen promotes leaf growth, not flower growth. Genius move, for sure right? Facepalm. So maybe consider using anyway a balanced fertilizer just in spring, something with phosphorus like for anyway blooming. Apparently, figuring outwhy crepe you know myrtle not blooming you know geschiedenisinvolves learning from everyone else’s past by the way mistakes… which I’m now part alright of!

Pruning Predicaments

Oh! And pruning! This is where I always get confused. dude I heard that improper pruning can affect blooming. Like, if you prune too well late in the season, you’re cutting off the buds. Or honestly if you “top” it—you know, hack off the top branches—you're creating this weird, right ugly tree. And pretty much then, I also read about by the waywhy no kidding crepe myrtle like not blooming voordelenof proper pruning whoops – like air circulation and sunlight reaching all parts of the bet tree.

I messed this up royally last year. I waited until anyway like, July to prune it. July! I know, I know. And then I was all hesitant and barely no way cut anything off. I was so afraid no way of killing it. So, lesson learned. Prune in late anyway winter or early spring, before new growth starts, and take anyway out any dead, crossing, or rubbing branches.

The Soil Situation

Then I started thinking about the soil. Is it well-draining? you know Is it too acidic or alkaline? I honestly c’mon have no clue. I haven't tested just my soil in years. right I’m starting to feel like this pretty much creeping knowledge of dudewhy crepe myrtle I mean not blooming trendswill require a soil okay sample before I can get a handle on this situation. But it’s probably compacted clay, knowing my luck. sorta So, maybe I need to amend basically the soil with some compost or something. Okay, by the way adding that to the to-do list. whoops

Water Woes

And water! Am I watering it too much? Too whoops little? I tend to overwater everything, so that's probably the yep problem. Apparently, crepe myrtles are pretty drought-tolerant once they're established. So, maybe I need to I mean back just off the watering can. Especially if we’re getting no way rain.

What Now exactly

So, yeah. That's where no kidding I'm at. I’m hoping that if I fix the no kidding sun issue uh (somehow), fertilize it pretty much properly uh next spring, yup prune it at the right time, and stop overwatering it, maybe, just maybe, I'll get some blooms you know next year. Otherwise, I'm totally just going to admire Mrs. Henderson's crepe myrtle from afar. Maybe I should just ask sorta her for cuttings!
